First Time or Repeat Home Buyer Education:
Home Buyer Education is What This Website, and Our Business, is All About: This "Library" of information for military home buyers and those looking to find homes for sale in the JBLM area is provided because I believe that the more knowledgeable you are as a home buyer, the more comfortable you will be... my job will be easier, and you will probably be happier with the outcome. Whether you are a first time home buyer or an experienced home buyer, you can find helpful and relevant information regarding our local real estate market and area. Real estate listings are a click away, with our advanced property search tools. Whether you are considering post housing or looking for property for sale, you can find area and real estate information on this site. If you like what you see so far, I encourage you to visit the Home Buyer Toolbox to get educated on buying a home in Washington.
The Phil Sharp Homes service area includes the following areas, and we offer real estate information and resources to military home buyers and those moving to Thurston and Pierce County WA (surrounding Joint Base Lewis-McChord), including Olympia, Lacey, Yelm, Roy, Lakewood, DuPont, Spanaway, Steilacoom, Tacoma, Graham, Puyallup, and all areas in between.
Joint Base Lewis-McChord BAH chart and rates are available on the PCS/Relo Info Page of the Buyers Toolbox. If you are PCS'ing to the JBLM, you can find out what your BAH (basic allowance for housing) rate is. BAH for both Ft. Lewis and McChord Air Force Base is based on Tacoma Wa, zip 98433.
The Ft. Lewis Lodge or a Hotel?
When you arrive in Washington, either TDY house hunting, or permanently, you will need a place to stay while house hunting. Let me know if you would like an email list of local hotels that my customers have stayed at in the past. I always do informal surveys, and the hotels I recommend in Lacey or Olympia have all gotten good marks from others who have stayed there. If you are interested in staying at the Fort Lewis Lodge (Lodging) or at McChord Lodge, they can be reached at the following numbers: Ft Lewis Lodge 253-964-0211, McChord Lodge 253-967-2815, Waller Hall [Central In-processing] 253-912-2150, The Fort Lewis Lodge has been recently upgraded, along with a new addition of approx 100 rooms. Since the consolidation of Ft Lewis and McChord AFB into JBLM, the lodging facilities are shared. If you are looking for long or short term lodging while waiting to move into your home, don’t overlook the possibility of staying on the Air Force side if the Rainier Inn on Ft Lewis is full.
